From the cutest getups for small dogs, to costumes fit for big, bold furry friends, this guide will help you to make the perfect choice while keeping your dog safe and comfortable.

Halloween Costume Ideas for Dogs

Spider

Here we have the lovely Pip showing us just how easy it is to take something so seemingly scary and make it cute.

Pumpkin

Bella is indeed the sweetest little pup-kin there ever was in this costume.

Ghostbuster

Who you gonna call? Hopefully not River as she doesn’t own a phone. But look how adorable she is in this costume. The 5th Ghostbuster we never knew we needed.

Vampire

Introducing Count Barkula. There's no risk of getting a bite from cutie though, all he's bothered about is when his next Butternut Box is arriving.

Squid

For good measure we've included a non-scary option, but it's still a crowd-pleaser that is sure to make waves.

Witch

A perfect costume for pups who are partial to stirring-up trouble now and then. Caution, there is a risk that your dog could cast a spell and trick you into giving them two dinners.

Ghost

A low-maintenance, high-impact classic. All you need is an old sheet (or pillowcase depending how small your pup is) and a pair of scissors.

Costume Safety Tips

While it’s fun to dress your dog up, it’s essential to keep their safety and comfort top of mind. Here are some impawtant tips to make sure your dog has a positive experience:

Keep it comfortable

Make sure the costume isn’t too tight or restrictive. Your dog should be able to move freely, breathe easily, and wag their tail without any trouble.

Watch for small parts

Avoid costumes with small or loose parts that your dog might chew off or accidentally swallow.

Monitor their behaviour

Some dogs may not enjoy wearing costumes. If your pup seems stressed or uncomfortable, it’s best to let them go au naturel and skip the costume altogether.

Stay visible

If you’re out and about after dark, make sure your dog’s costume has reflective elements, or consider adding some, so they stay visible to you and others.

ID Tag Access

Make sure your dog’s collar and ID tag remain visible and accessible at all times. Even when dressed up, your pup should have proper identification in case they get separated from you during an event or trick-or-treat outing.
